Traditional Lighting Solution (High Pressure Sodium Light)
Typical high pressure sodium lights have low efficiency. With same amount of lumen output, the HPS lights’ power consumption is 4 times more than an LED light. The majority of energy consumed by the HPS light has been transferred into heat and invisible light (e.g. infrared, ultraviolet…). Due to the design limitation, HPS lights cannot dissipate heat quickly enough. This will cause temperatures to easily exceed 300°C. In this case, the lens and lamp head case will likely be damaged.
The light color that HPS light output is yellow or amber which is quite uncomfortable for human eyes. Even for those white HPS light, they age quickly into yellow or amber after a short period of time. In addition, HPS lights also contains environmental hazardous material like Mercury.
LED Street Light Retrofit:
Light-emitting diode (LED) has high efficiency. DX3 designed LED retrofits only need 20-28% power consumption to achieve equivalent light output effect as a normal HPS light. With its highly efficient power conversion to light, it also generates less heat (barely exceeds 60°C). With its narrow light output spectrum (mostly in visible region), it gives a clean and cool white light which is comfortable for human eyes.
In addition, DX3 LED retrofit design has small footprint which gives it a huge flexibility advantage in retrofit design. Different from traditional lights, the DX3 LED light is mounted on a specially designed circuit board which allows them to fit in all types of lighting cases. It also lasts longer and sustains stable output throughout the majority of its lifetime. There is no environmental hazardous substance included in the DX3 LED retrofit design.
